Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I’d like to know more about the camera.
A. The camera is a USB-based machine-vision camera designed to capture high-speed action (even the fastest golf swing) without significant blurring. It operates at a true 60 frames-per-second, providing twice as many individual pictures of a given golf swing as a conventional 30 fps camcorder. This means it is far more likely to capture the moment of impact. The camera has no one/off switch or any other buttons. It is completely controlled through just a few buttons on the touch screen of the Reflector PRO 3000. The only settings users ever adjust are to choose from one of six pre-set buttons to select the best picture for the given lighting conditions (3 settings for outdoors and 3 for indoors). The system comes with a 35 foot USB camera cable and a separate tripod for the camera, making it easy to move the camera into any position to capture the swing from the down-the-line or face-on views. The camera is able to record continuous video for up to three minutes in length. The Reflector PRO 3000 is so portable that it could be taken on the course or even on the green to record and play back video. The system is currently not equipped to support two cameras at the same time, but it is easy to capture both views of a golfer by moving the camera from one place to another, even during the same recording session.
Q. How long does the battery last?
The Reflector PRO 3000 comes standard with two batteries. The external battery will typically provide about four hours of battery life. Once it has run down, the system switches over to an internal battery. That battery will also run for about four hours. With the standard battery configuration, the unit is powered for a total of eight hours. We make available additional external batteries which can be exchanged in and out in a few seconds. Each of these provides four hours of usage time. In addition, the unit comes with an AC adapter. This adapter both recharges the internal and external battery, and can be used to power the unit indefinitely if AC power is available. Battery recharge time is approximately 2-3 hours per battery.
Q. How bright is the screen? Is it truly readable in bright sunlight?
We have waited nine years to be able to utilize the breakthrough screen technology in the Reflector PRO 3000. Reflection Golf is one of the first companies in the world to use this new technology in any type of product. Essentially, the brighter the sun, the brighter the screen! This technology uses sunlight to make text and video easy to see and read. There is very little screen glare as well. While the screen displays full color indoors, when taken outside in bright sun, it loses some of this color for the sake of clarity. For sports analysis, this is not an issue, as the goal is to clearly see the position of the golfer’s body under all lighting conditions. This is where the Reflector PRO performs at its best. You will have no difficulty reading any text displayed on the unit.
Q. How big is the screen?
We use a 10.1” screen because it is the only screen size currently available with this sun-readable, low-energy technology. We optimize the size of this screen in our software by making it simple to zoom into a video to see any parts of the video in greater detail. Our experience of the past nine years has demonstrated that this screen is more than adequate for swing analysis.
Q. How much does the system weigh, and what is involved in setting it up?
The entire unit weighs less than 15 pounds. Set up time is normally 5 minutes at most. The system has three parts: the main unit; the main tripod; and a separate camera tripod. The main unit “clips” onto the primary tripod in seconds. The entire system ships with a high-quality carrying case.
Q. Is there a manual? How long does it take to learn to use the system?
The system takes only minutes to learn. The entire on-screen software program functions similar to an ATM or airport check-in kiosk. There is an extensive on-screen help system available at any time to explain what every button does. In addition, Reflection Golf provides immediate, 24×7 technical support at no additional charge.
Q. How do I transfer videos from the system to my students?
This is one of the many unique features of the Reflector PRO 3000. We make this exceptionally quick and easy, saving you time and making lessons more productive and valuable for your students.
The system comes with built-in WiFi, as well as an ethernet connection. So it is easy to keep it connected to the Internet. As an additional option, for a cost of under $50 per month national air cards can be purchased, it is easy to set up a 3G connection to enable the unit to be connected from any location where a 3G signal is available… whether way out on the range or even anywhere on the course.
To send a video, all you need do is enter an email address for the recipient (through the built-in touch-screen software), select a video, then press SEND VIDEO. That’s it! The recipient receives automatic email notification that a video is waiting to be retrieved. They then use our free “Swing Browser” software to retrieve, store and replay the video…. frame-by-frame or any way they wish.
In addition, the system comes configured to transfer any video to a flash drive. Just plug the flash drive into one of two USB ports on the system, then press SEND VIDEO.
Q. What does the $2895 system price include?
Everything needed for a complete system, including a dual-core Pentium computer, next-generation sun-readable display, touch screen, 60 fps camera, two tripods, two batteries, enhanced sound system (speakers + microphone), WiFi, 3G capable, steel and weather resistant enclosure, high quality carrying case, extensive built-in software plus our innovative Swing Browser Premium desktop software (PC and Mac compatible), and more.
Q. I already own a laptop and camcorder which I use to record golf swings. What is the advantage of the Reflector PRO 3000?
If your current system records at the standard 30 frames-per-second, the step up to 60 fps is very significant… both for you when analyzing swing problems, and for the student when viewing these problems. Few camcorders can handle the 60 fps data rate. Secondly, there are very few laptops which are truly sun-readable, and none we’ve ever seen which are as bright as the Reflector PRO 3000. Third is ease of use, convenience and setup time. Another key benefit of our system is that it can be set up as a separate video station where students can pay you on a time basis as they work with the video recording and playback features on their own. The system can be learned in just a few minutes. This gives the students access to an incredibly powerful tool, without requiring your constant attention.
Q. I own a high-speed camera (like one of the Casio camera’s) which I use to record swings. Can it be used with a Reflector PRO 3000?
Absolutely. Simply capture video with your camera, then plug it into one of the system’s USB ports. Hit the Import button. The videos will be automatically imported for viewing and analysis on the Reflector PRO’s sun-readable screen. You can even edit them and send swings out to any student via just an email address. The system handles all the details.
Q. What happens if it rains or gets windy?
The Reflector PRO 3000 is weather resistant and very sturdy. It will not blow over, unless the wind exceeds 30+ mph. While the unit should not be left out in a downpour, it will withstand some lighter rain until covered.
Q. What level of technical support can I expect?
We take great pride in our customer support. Technical service is available 24/7 by phone or email.
Q. Can I test the system? Is there a trial period?
Absolutely. You have a full 10 days to thoroughly test the system after you have purchased it. If you are not 100% satisfied, return it for a ful refund, including shipping charges!
